The Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ, also known as “The Blue Nuns,” have committed to transforming the former Saint Francis School in Freeport, Illinois into the Madonna Renewal Center, a residential home for women facing unplanned motherhood, and their infants. We can’t imagine a better way to help mothers and the unborn than by sheltering and serving them in a way that honors Jesus.
The people of the Freeport area and communities all over the country have been very generous and much work has already been accomplished. The roof has been replaced and the grounds have been restored to their former beauty. Asbestos (an unfortunate feature of almost every school in America at one time) has been ruthlessly hunted down and removed at a cost of almost $200,000.
Still, a great deal remains to be done before the Center can open. This video was filmed after our roof repairs were finished, and shows some of what has been accomplished and where we need to go. We hope it will stir your heart to pray for and support our mission!
